Creating a Type or Group
Navigate to the 'Types' tab: press the '+' button in the top right corner and 'Edit type' screen will appear.
Enter details: name, icon, color and tags (optionally).
Group checkbox: enable it if you want to create a group. If not, an activity type will be created
Save: Press the 'Save' button to create the type or group
You cannot convert type a to a group or vice versa. To make changes, create a new type or group. For moving logged records, refer to Batch operations
Editing a Type or Group
Navigate to the 'Types' tab: press on the type or group you want to edit - the 'Type Details' screen will appear
Edit Details: press the 'Edit' button in the top right corner. Change the name, icon, color and tags as needed
Save: Press the 'Save' button to apply changes
Deleting a Type or Group
You can delete a type or group on the 'Edit type' screen.
⚠️ Deleting a type will also delete all activities of that type. Deleting a group will delete all its sub-groups and their activities. Consider using the 'Archiving' feature if you want to keep the history
Archiving
If you want to retain the history but no longer need the type or group:
Navigate to the 'Types' tab: press on the type or group you wish to archive
Archive: On the ‘Type Details’ screen, press the ‘Archive’ button at the bottom.
View Archived Items:
Archived types or groups will appear in the ‘Archived’ section at the bottom of the ‘Types’ tab
If archived inside a group, they will appear in the ‘Archived’ section at the bottom of the ‘Items’ section.
Adding Activity Type/Group to a Group
There are two ways to add an activity type or group to another group in aTimeLogger:
Method 1: Adding from the Parent Screen
Navigate to Types tab: Select the parent group to which you want to add a subgroup or type.
Add New Type/Group: Press the ‘+’ button in the Items section and Select the type or group you want to add
Method 2: Moving from the Child Screen
Navigate to ‘Types’ Tab: Select the child type or group that you want to move.
Move to Another Group
Press the ‘Move to’ button.
If you want to move the type or group to another group, select the desired group.
If you want to move it to the top level, press ‘Move to top level’.
Statistics and History
On the ‘Type details’ screen, you can view detailed statistics for the selected activity type or group. This includes:
Total: The total amount of time logged for the activity type or group.
Average per Activity: The average time spent per activity entry
Average per Day: The average time spent per day on the activity type or group.
Comparison with Previous Period: Metrics comparison with the previous period to understand trends and changes.
Daily Chart: A visual representation of the time logged daily.
Pressing the eye icon in the top right corner will navigate you to a separate screen displaying:
Comprehensive statistics
History of the selected type
Lines button: Pressint the lines button will display a line charf featuring:
Current Period Line: A line representing the current period’s data
Previous Period Line: A line representing the previous period’s data comparison
Reorder
You can set the order for activity types:
manual
by name
How to Set Upp an Order
Navigate to 'Types' tab, press on the title in the top navigation bar.
A menu will appear with ‘Manual’ and ‘By Name’ options.
Select 'Manual' Order
When ‘Manual’ is selected, a new button appears near the ‘+’ button
Press this button to activate ‘Reorder’ mode
In ‘Reorder’ mode, a lines button will appear next to each type or group row on the right side
Use drag & drop to set a custom order
After reordering, press the ‘Save’ button in the top right corner to save your changes
Select 'By Name' Order
Selecting ‘By Name’ will automatically order the activity types alphabetically
Applying Order to Subtypes and Subgroups
The order mode selected on the ‘Types’ tab also applies to subtypes and subgroups
To change the custom order inside a group:
Press on the group to open it
Find the button near the ‘+’ button in the Items section
Press this button to activate the same reorder mode for subtypes and subgroups
